Yet another week has passed in our #geekuary challenge. This past week’s theme?
You were challenged to create something inspired by your favorite superhero. The end results? I am Groot.
As always, be sure to visit the Facebook event to see all of the entries! Also be sure to search the hashtag #geekuary on Instagram and Twitter for more.
My first pick of the week is by Sheena Fratto of Shabby Chic Soap Company. She created a Groot soap! She even created a scent for him: “this scent is modest, pure and natural, just like everyone’s favorite talking tree. A sharp base of mahogany, lemongrass and basil is paired with top notes of lavender, mandarin, lemon leaf and fern, bringing you a woodsy forest scent with just a hint of sweetness. Perfectly symbolic of Groot.”
My next pick is from Rachel Foland, who created a key-chain with Batman and a snuggly cat. Awww!
My third pick comes from Miranda Woodcock who created a wooden plaque that says “Always be yourself. Unless you can be IRONMAN. Then, always be [Iron Man].” A perfect motivational message for a geeky shelf.
I don’t always feature one of my own creations, but it gained many likes on Facebook, so I decided I should. I created a Wonder Woman plush out of felt. She’s roughly 2.5″ tall. I may be biased, but she’s even cuter in person.
Lastly, I present Spawn. Technically he’s an anti-hero, but we’ll allow it. I really like how detailed he is–the studs especially. I also like how his cape billows! Chelsey Scully is the creator of this guy.
Join us this Valentine’s Day week for our villain theme! Create something in your art medium of choice inspired by your favorite villain. Don’t forget to use the hashtag #geekuary when you post!
