#geekuary Week 1 highlights

As many of you should know by now, I issued a challenge to you to be creative this year. Each week I give you a new assignment and you have one week to complete it and submit it online.

This past week I had nearly 20 submissions and I’m hoping for an increasingly better turnout each week. Even if you missed out on this week’s challenge, I encourage you to jump in whenever you get the chance! It’s never too late to benefit from this.

If you’re on Facebook, join the event to see what others have created and to have a little reminder each week to work on your own project. www.facebook.com/events/610512769094893

creative challenge geek edition, week 1

This past week’s challenge was to create a self-portrait. You were to use your own art medium of choice, as it will be for the challenges. You could make it however you wanted, as long as in the end you felt that it represented who YOU were as a person.

There were so many incredible entries that it was difficult to pick my favorites, but I can’t post all of them, so here goes. Be sure to visit the FB event page to see the rest or search the hashtag #geekuary.
Here are my top three favorite submissions from this past week:

Sheena is and will always be a Disney geek at heart, so she created a soap inspired by Ariel. The scent is called “Part of Your World.” How fitting! Sheena runs Shabby Chic Soap Company, so she’s well-versed in soap making. I can’t wait to see what you make next week!

Jesse didn’t quite explain his entry, but I still love it. It’s so random!

Vanessa from Scrubs of Love made this amazing galaxy bomb. It’s a bath bomb that has sparkles in it! Vanessa is a huge science geek that loves sparkles. Perfect fit!
